Following the big basin of the Trevi fountain, on the its left side towards Via della Stamperia, one could see the Fontanina degli Innamorati (the small fountain of the lovers). It is not noticed from afar because it is little visible. In some texts it is defined by this name because there was a saying that the lovers who drink from this fountain will remain forever faithful. Even the Trevi fountain, is said to be considered in the same manner: girls made their boyfriends drink, when these departed for a long voyage, a glass of water taken from the basin. The boyfriend with that memory of Rome would have returned. Today this is no longer possible considering that the water source 'Acqua Vergine' which supplies the fountain is no longer drinkable.
